Production Blog - Editing (Jaydon POV)

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is on editing, from my perspective.

I'm not an editor.

Look, my long-term followers know I edit. After all, you've seen my music video, and my "All-about-me" commercial! I can put things together, quite well if I'm using CapCut. However,  Juan is on a whole other level. This man uses so much more software than me, giving him an advantage of choice and efficiency. And some of them are paid too! Giving him the higher quality needed to surpass my CapCut Mumbo Jumbo. So all that stuff, I'll leave it to Juan.

What he's doing

Juan is currently editing the sound upon the Cyberattacker's movements. He works in that field, using the app mentioned before: Audacity!

That's All!

That's it for this Production Blog, everyone. I hope I made at least most of my descriptions and intentions clear. Thank you for reading! And until next time, stay cool and attractive.

Production Blog - Filming our Faults

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is on our filming failures.

Filming Failures

When I say filming failures, I do not mean failures in filming. I mean whilst doing the prep work, we filmed all the mistakes we made. Thats right! Every time we dropped a curtain and made a ton of noise, it was caught on camera. The fun part (for me at least) is that you don't get to see it on my blog! You have to go and check it out on my partner Juan's. The link to his blogs are below!

Now instead, you can check out this totally awesome group picture of us! We had fun and we are all friends here

Filming Set-up

So to prepare for the Cyber Attacker Lair in Scene 2, we had to move these giant curtains, and we didn't know how to detach them at the time. So we struggled and turned and twisted until one fell down... and detached. We were very worried and concerned that we broke it. but nope! It detaches all along! And our camera got that all on camera! So make sure to check out Juan's blog!

Production Blog - Week Hiatus.

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is on our week hiatus.

We took a break

We took a break for a few days. A week to be exact, because we didn't film the previous Sunday. Why? Because our actors were very preoccupied. Our wonderful actor Sarah Abrue is not only working with us, but with another Media Studies group! Isn't that superb hard working? I commend her for that, and she's finally back with us this following Sunday! The 4th of March.

What I did

I did not even show up to the Church, our acting grounds, that day. I was very busy with History Work, as well as my other classes. So that was definitely a nice break for me!... If I actually did meaningful work. I feel like I did a little that day because I had two appointments that day, but it is fine! A little effort is better than no effort!

Production Blog - Mother's Basement

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is on! The background audio for this film.

Lofi Tropicala!

We started with some lofi music, to fit the tropical theme of the wallpaper on the tech store. And it sounded quite nice and peaceful which put us at ease. Our actor Miss Huguet was the one who found the music on YouTube, and Juan had all the audio set up already. This music is royalty free as well! Which means that we don't have to worry about and copyright issues.

Mother's Basement

Now, since we are in the ever so secluded Black Box. It's quiet... very quiet. So Juan had the great idea of adding ambience to our scene. However the initial video he found resulted in failure. He searched up "tech store ambience." But it sounded too high-tech and unrealistic so we scrapped it. He tried again with a video with the same search text, but to no avail. So I suggested, "just search up basement ambience instead. You are streaming in your Mother's Basement." So we did and we landed on the perfect ambience! It felt so real it was like it wasn't even there! That's how we landed on the final audio music ambience for Scene 1 and Scene 2.

Production Blog - Voice Magic

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is on editing! Specifically on the voice of yours truly.

Scene 2

In scene 2, the Cyber-Attacker, Me, was recorded walking into his lair. And I started preparing for my hacking announcement, which of course, requires audio. So I had to record the same scene about 5 times, all with different samples of my voice and laugher. So the process ended up having me walk in my lair, test my mic, and then prepare a speech. And the audio used for the speech was from one of my samples, not the recording itself. Is that easy to understand?

Easy Process

I did the acting part and some direction, that's my role. Most of the editing is done by the expert, Juan. He used an application called Audacity to record my voice line. Then after having a LOT of bloopers, we finally decided on a recording (which I personally, thought could be better.) He extracted that file and masked it onto the video, finalizing Scene 2.

That's All!

That's it for this Production Blog, everyone. It was a bit short, but I hope I made at least most of my descriptions and intentions clear. Thank you for reading! And until next time, stay cool and attractive.

Production Blog - Change

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is on adaptation on set!

The Plan A

Now, we initially planned to use the worship stage primarily used for children's services and the church's private school. As Juan said: "It had a beefy audio system, three beefy projectors, some PTZ cameras, and more. It was even large too." This was the first place we scoped out, and we looked around to get familiarized with the space.
However after talking with Mr. First Impression (The guy who allows us to be there) we quickly found out that this place was unavailable. We were told that due to possible administrative conflicts with our church, this location would not be suitable for us to conduct our filming. However, there was an alternative. An alternative that would have the least administrative conflicts with our church, and allow us to record in a top secret location.

Enter: The Black Box

We were given the most effective unit in the school: The Black Box. Compared to the large stage, the Black Box is actually a much more versatile and flexible venue that is sensible enough for a project of our scale. It stands as a practice room in the layout of a small theatre, but it gives us enough room to be able to film all of the indoor shots.

Juan says that it still had a very good sound system to add diegetic sound to the film, along with a beefy projector to be able to project the movie that is mentioned in Scene 3. The specifics on the scene recordings will be on Juan's blog, but for now, this is it for my blog!

Production Blog - Fun Times

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is the fun we had while recording

Random Assorted Props

There were many props in the Black Box that we had the physical capability to wield, like crowns and swords. And we played around for a little bit! We had an awesome fight that Miss Vettorazzi was supposed to record... but.....
…she forgot to press the record button.
But it's fine! We ended up getting more footage for me to show you on my blog, like this cute video of Miss Vettorazzi exiting a prop door.

Production Blog - First Flop

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is the first flop.

Horrible Start

So we planned to start recording on Sunday 4th and it was... difficult. I was at Calvary early, as I usually am. And my partner Juan came a little bit later so it was about then we started setting things up. We got into the Black Box right away (the drama room we were allowed to work in) But minutes later, our first actor, Sarah Abreu, had arrived. But I don't personally know her, so we didn't really speak to each other besides our greetings. But we had to continue setting up, and that was the problem that Abreu later brought to us: They are here to act, not prepare.

Enter: The Seniors

So we were setting up after confirming out times with our lender, Mr. First Impression, and that's when I got a call from our next actor: Miss Huguet. Turns out I underestimated the size of my church. So she entered from behind the church, and got very lost. She was so lost our next actor, Miss Vettorazzi, had arrived, so Miss Huguet drove to her and picked her up, so they could be lost together. After about 15 minutes of communication, they finally made it to the main entrance. But to make all matters worse, it started pouring, heavily. But eventually we all got to the Black Box with an hour left.

Our Attempt to Act

So we got all our main actors (our last one comes later) and we started!... To prepare more, we were moving stuff while the actors were just on their phones. It was horrible, we were confused, and by the end, we never ended up acting. To the fault of Juan and I, Abreu gave us a well deserved talk-down, so we can do better next time. And I believe we did! But that's a story for another time.

That's All!
