Planning Blog: Title Design

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is on the Title Design for my final task.

Font:

We could use Helvetica Standard. Using Helvetica will provide a clean and professional look without overwhelming the audience with too many font styles.

Contrast

We will ensure there is a high contrast between the background and the text, and we will use glitchy effects to do so.

Size

We will use large titles to really emphasize the glitchy nature of this project. We want the viewers to see the theme immediately so they know what they're getting into.

Working title

Pestilence.

Title Entry/Exit:

To create a seamless and aesthetically pleasing transition, titles could gradually fade in when introduced and fade out when they exit the screen. This ensures a visually pleasing and non-distracting effect.

Duration on Screen

Each title will be displayed on the screen for a specific duration to keep things consistent, and it this case it will last 5 seconds each. This allows enough time for the audience to read everything without it lingering for too long.

That's All!

That's it for this Production Blog everyone. I hope I made at least most of my descriptions and intentions clear. Thank you for reading! And until next time, stay cool and attractive.

Planning Blog: Other Info

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is about the miscellaneous information necessary for this project.

The Schedule

01/28/2023:
  • We will begin filming at Calvary Chapel, and hopefully get everything film-wise done by then.
01/29/2024 -  03/15/2024
  • We work on production blogs & editing if we already recorded everything.
02/04/2024, 02/18/2024, 02/25/2024

  • Backup Film dates

The Location

We are planning to film at my Church, Calvary Chapel, since we (may) have access to the drama rooms there, such as the Black Box, since I am associates with the Sunday School Leader there. Because the Black Box is a separated room for drama there, we can use the greenscreens and the audio booth if need be.

Health & Safety

I have established relations amongst the Church Walls, and we will be provided protection by a police force stationed around the Church. We will also have an adult with us within 60 feet at all time. We will be securely fine.

Backup

We can film at an actual tech store if necessary, but because I will not be on set it would be more of a concern for my partner Juan.

That's All!

Planning Blog: The Script

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is on the Script for The Final Project. And we have a format to stay in, so you'll see it below!!

Scene 1 - The Pickup

(Immediate cut to establishing shot in the form of a wide shot of the mall's entrance)

(Cut to a tracking shot of Zephyra walking to the front desk)

(Zephyra meets with Jessica at the front desk.)

Zephyra: Hi!

Jessica: Hi! My name is Jessica, how can I help you today?

Zephyra: I'm here to pick up an online order.

Jessica: Nice! So what I'll have you do is provide your pickup QR code for your order, and you should be all set!

Zephyra: Nice! Give me one second...

(Zephyra pulls out her phone. She then navigates to her order on her outgoing phone. She then pulls up the QR code.)

Zephyra: Here you go!

(Jessica scans the QR code, she then begins to review Zephyra's order, she has already paid online)

Jessica: Zephyra, right?

Zephyra: Yes!

Jessica: OK then, give me one moment...

(Jessica quickly looks for Zephyra's order. She turns to look through some orders to instantly see Zephyra's order on the table. She then turns and gives her order to Zephyra.)

Jessica: Here is your new phone Zephyra!

Zephyra: Thank you so much, Jessica!

(Cut back to tracking shot)

Jessica: My pleasure! Have a blessed day and enjoy your new phone!

(Zephyra walks away from the desk and makes her way outside)

(Meanwhile, the camera slows down, and focuses on a laptop, which suddenly suspiciously indicates its camera is being used while on a demo screen)

(Cut to Zephyra walking out, and then finding someplace to set up her new phone. Pan throughout)

(She is very excited to open it. She finds a bench right outside of the mall's entrance to set up her new phone.)

Scene 2 - Stealth Deployment

(Cut to Digital Phantom entering his lair)

(Digital Phantom then logs onto a computer running Kali Linux, afterwards he prepares to attack by opening several programs on the computer)

Digital Phantom: evilly starts to chuckle

Scene 3 - Immense Panic

(Cut to a crowd in a theatre that is watching a movie)

Scene 3A - Movie (Abigail MV)

To illustrate Abigail's success from the music video project, the video is shown onscreen.

(Cut to Digital Phantom, where he picks up a mic. At this point, he is about to commence his attack.)

(At this point, the film pauses and is taken offscreen.)

Crowd in the theatre is confused

(A big green text titled "Hello" appears)

Digital Phantom: (through speakers) Well hello there.

Crowd: is nervous

Digital Phantom: I'd just like to announce, well, a little something.

Digital Phantom: When would it be a convenient time...

Digital Phantom: for all of you...

Digital Phantom: to disappear?

(Everyone proceeds to run out of the theatre)

(An alarm plays through the speakers)

(Cut to hallway, pan)

(Cut to Working Title, then Director)

That's All!

That's it for this Planning Blog everyone. I hope I made at least most of my descriptions and intentions clear for this Script! Though as you can see, because this is a title sequence, there isn't much dialogue. Thank you for reading! And until next time, stay cool and attractive.

Title Research Blog: Sky Fighers

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is on researching movie title sequences made by other creators. And today's Title is "Sky Fighers" by Laurent Brett.

Titles Displayed

The first text we see are the names of the films that made this film, and after some cool transitions, we see the "Un Film Produit" which means "A film produced" by what we can assume are more names. Then they show more corporations.

Images Prioritized

The title producers prioritized the images of the planes showcased since this film is about planes and helicopters. This title took things further and broke down the inner structure of the plane, showing a high-tech, blueprint-esque presentation.

Genre Feeling

Breaking down the plane into its deconstructed structure shows machine and computer work, which falls into the domain of sci-fi. The text and the orientation of the interfaces also give off sci-fi correlations. And one more psychological fact is that the film primarily uses the colour blue during the plane breakdown, which you may think it's just because it's a blueprint, but the colour blue actually triggers certain schemas and sensors in the brain that symbolize intelligence and hard work.

That's All!

That's it for this Title Blog everyone. I hope I made at least most of my descriptions and intentions clear. Thank you for reading! And until next time, stay cool and attractive.

Title Research Blog: Significant Other

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is on researching movie title sequences made by other creators. And today's Title is Significant Other by Filmograph.

Titles Displayed

The streaming service and production company titles are displayed at the beginning of the opening sequence. A significant portion of the film is dedicated to select actors, the casting directors, the music director, the costume designer, the editor, the production designer, the photography director, the executive producers, the producer, the writer, and the director. The title is then displayed at the end.

Images Prioritized

The scenes take most of the priority during the opening sequence. However, some titles become the main focus in some instances of the sequence as some of the text is displayed on a black backdrop. Other foreground titles are arranged in different positions especially to set focus and overall cleanliness in the opening sequence.

Genre Feeling

Several events and editing techniques help create a sense of the dystopian, suspenseful, and mysterious plot of what is to come in the film.
At the beginning of the film, the film opens with a projectile on fire about to crash into the earth. At certain brief moments during the opening sequence, there is a scene in which a deer is attacked by an alien-like creature. To wash away the unorthodox events, a segment of the opening sequence features two persons in a car traveling down a road peacefully. A soothing song plays, but when the song is about to end, the main title is revealed, and then the song pitch fades down.
The titles also contain one extra text character to build a sort of alien-like sensation. The text characters then merge into one during the screen time of the title.

That's All!

That's it for this Title Blog everyone. I hope I made at least most of my descriptions and intentions clear. Thank you for reading! And until next time, stay cool and attractive.

Title Research Blog: A HISTORY OF THE TITLE SEQUENCE

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is on researching movie title sequences made by other creators. And today's Title is "A History of The Title Sequence" by From Form.

Titles Displayed

This film showcased all of the names of the creators of the title sequence, which is most definitely a unique take on titles since usually they give the names of the actors and main producers overall in titled form. But in this case, they highlighted the creators of the title and the name of the production company as a whole.

Images Prioritized

They prioritized modified and oversimplified techy fonts to portray the genre, as well as used pretty relaxing hand tools for creation and the like. The paper itself being influenced is also focused on since most of the text is printed on top of it. Which relates to another prioritized image, the items used to make the text. The objects like chalk and protractors are prioritized and give the titles a place to lay and be presented.

Genre Feeling

Seeing the text font gave me tech feels, and the features and charts gave technology vibes as well. While the texture is like board chalk, the implication and movements of the text feel like a scientific opening. The slicing of text presented in the film feels like a glitchy influence, which fits the theme of sci-fi.

That's All!

That's it for this Title Blog everyone. I hope I made at least most of my descriptions and intentions clear. Thank you for reading! And until next time, stay cool and attractive.

Title Research Blog: Sites.

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is on researching movie title sequences made by other creators. Specifically, my references.

Where are the references found?

My goal for this task was simple: Find a website with a collection of titles. I was sure that someone has to make something like that, and I was very right! I found a website called "Watch the Titles" at https://www.watchthetitles.com/ that was a colossal emporium of various titles and movie intros that proved Watch the Titles to be an amazing website for this project. What makes this website even more spectacular is the fact that it does not only present title sequences for professional companies, but also student-made title sequences. I like to look at the student made ones because they have limited production accessibility such as my accomplice and I, so the expectations are more realistic.

What am I doing with this research?

I'm viewing these titles, so what? What can I do with this? Well by seeing the efforts of others, I can implement the techniques of said others, additionally, it would help me understand what I exactly need to do. There's a quote from a card game that I like called Magic the Gathering, and it says: "Learning to imitate a master is the first step in becoming one." So I will put in effort to understand and then construct my own title sequence.

That's All!

That's it for this Title Research Blog everyone. I hope I made at least most of my descriptions and intentions clear. Thank you for reading! And until next time, stay cool and attractive.
