Reflection.

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic finishes the saga of the All About Me Commercial. It is, my first reflection post.

How did I do it?

I spent lots of time on my commercial and I learned some new tricks and techniques. And it is indicative of ingrained imagination to implement my ideas in this index.

New Technology Usage

I've stated before that I have used CapCut before, but this time I learned how to use more features. Originally I was going to create my cosplay presentation on PowerPoint, as it is notorious for it's transitions, but after so many trials and errors I could not get the quick transitions I wanted, even if I tried utilizing the animation feature alongside it. But then I realized a feature I wasn't aware CapCut had: their own animation feature. With this I was able to get the "bounce" I needed to finalize all my transitions to get the look I wanted.

General Process

I was pretty confident putting this commercial together, so I did it last minute. It took so many failed pictures to get the ones I wanted. Especially for my Lab Coat one; Juvenante Houshima. I couldn't get the lighting right, I had to use multiple mini flashlights and even a CANDLE just to get an adequate shade. I had to reposition myself many times to make my face bright & clear. As for the editing side, it was pretty simple. I was planning to just use jump cuts, but because I ended my second scene weirdly, I had to implement a transition clip each time. I was able to easily add background music to my second scene and the scene with my outro, which I still love very much.

How to Improve by the Next Project

My next project seems a little bit daunting since I know it's going to be very video heavy, so it would be great for me if I knew all the camera terminology. It's even more brooding since I might be working on this solo, but I know I'll get through it if I keep on paying attention and seek to improve. I just need to know how to maneuverer CapCut inside and out; utilizing all of it's features, and take advantage of the research opportunities around me. I know transitions and cuts will be very important next time, so I want to focus in on that.

That's All!

That's it for this Reflection Blog everyone! I hope you guys understand my thought processes and enjoyed my growth! Thank you for reading! And until the next saga, stay cool and attractive.

Production Blog: First Final Destination

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is the progression of my commercial.

I have finalized everything.

The jets are set for this commercial! And I decided to separate it into 4 parts: Cosplay Presentation (Intro) Cosplay Commentary (Bridge 1) Art Showcase (Bridge 2) Outro (Conclusion). And the contents of this blog surround these topics.

Cosplay Presentation

In this segment, I set up pictures and edited them in the way I specified in my Research & Planning Blog, so go check that out if you haven't already. Essentially, it will be three separate pictures of me in different costumes and in varying poses, then I edit them to match the beat of the music I put in the background. I will also have captions telling you the names of the characters I'm cosplaying.

Cosplay Commentary

In this segment, I record myself in a "Jordan the Stallion" style, where I hold my phone in front of a mirror and speak to the audience. I'll speak about my opinions of the previous segment, and then I will transition to talking about my other hobby: drawing.

Art Showcase

In this segment, I change my location to my desk, where I have a folder of a colouring sheet of my art, as seen here. Additionally, because I'm at my crafting desk, I am also able to showcase my origami, which was not originally planned, but it turned out well. After I show my art, I will transition to the outro

Outro

For the conclusion of my commercial, I will make a custom outro card showcasing my art in colour instead of just the line art coloring sheet as well as crediting any music I use during the commercial. I will also be playing a nice relaxing outro song in the background. This section is used                                                       to give thanks to the viewers and to give credit.

That's All!

That's it for this Production Blog everyone! The Commercial is next, we've reached so far now! I can't wait to produce it and show you all! Wish me the best of luck, cause it looks like I will need it. So until next time, stay cool and attractive y'all!

Production Blog: Video Ventures

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is actually going to be a continuation of my last blogs cliffhanger, so if you haven't read that, go view that before this one. But in case you need to be reminded, I will be talking about my previous editing experiences for videos!

My Lyric Censoring

Like my photos, I need to censor things from my video. I have an example of a video edited because the song had inappropriate lyrics in it. However accidentally, I added a new song over the clip I wanted and the audio linked up quite perfectly with the CapCut Outro.

To get this production, I had to go and upload the original video into Capcut, then after that I started actually doing the editing. The first step was to ensure the video was uploaded without any corruption; making sure the video and audio went through without any differences. After that, I separated the graphic audio from the video, stripping the video of any sound, as in the right side you can see a pop-up watermark showing the original song, which has words I did not like. The rest was creativity from there: I had to replace the silence with a sound or song of some kind, so I went and browsed my library of videos for any sounds that I liked, then I came across a video with the instrumental part of Britney Spears' "Toxic". And the rising violin part came in right as the CapCut outro came in, which I thought was pretty neat.

The Main Takeaway

With this video, I've shown that I have honed the ability to edit videos in terms of changing audio by undergoing a short process. Here I have another example of audio, but this time it was just a single word. And that was the problem; I wanted to keep the rest of the sentence, however I needed to censor the word. So, I decided I add a miniature transition, transitioning to the same part of the video which I cut out; allowing me to mute the word I wanted out. Within the transition I added a glitch effect with a sound effect which I thought fit it. So not only can I replace background music that I don't want, but I can also pinpoint specific words I want to expell.

That's All!

That's it for this Production Blog everyone! I hope I made at least most of my descriptions and abilities clear. I love editing things! Thank you for reading! And until next time, stay cool and attractive.

Production Blog: Preceding Trials

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is actually going to be a bit more relaxed. I will be talking about my previous editing experiences!

Fun Organization

I would call myself s pretty organized person. So whenever I have anything on my phone, I make sure it's named then put in a folder that aligns with it's content. However I have specific prerequisites for any content in my phone. It must be child-friendly and not contain any profanity. Unfortunately lots of content nowadays has such immaturities. So it's up to me to go and fix them all!

For images I download for the text, like Twitter or Reddit posts, I can easily go and object erase the naughty word, then hop onto Ibis Paint to lasso the rest of the text and move it closer, filling in the awkward gap with the erased word.
For pictures with an image, it is a bit harder since the text may be in front of the image which I would like to keep. Typically Object Eraser can deal some of it, but sometimes it affects the background too much; adding weird smudges and colors.

Capcut & Videos

Editing videos are a bit different though, as there are a lot more components in a video when compared to an image. Not only could there be texts and watermarks, but now the text can change mid video, and then there may be audio, which may contain words I don't want. In most cases, I see editing the video as not worth it and just move on, but sometimes the video is just too good or funny, and I need to have it on my phone. So I download the video and get working. But there are a lot of things that act as variables in this, soo, this blog will end on a cliff hanger! You'll have to check in at another time! Sorry!

That's All!

That's it for this Production Blog everyone! I hope you guys understand my past experiences, and sorry about the cliffhanger! Thank you for reading! And until next time, stay cool and attractive.

Production Blog: Editing Operations

Greetings and Salutations!

Welcome to Media TL;DR the series where I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is my editing plans for my upcoming commercial.

So what is it?

So before I go after my processes, I should define what the term "edit" is. Of course the most general idea is that it is a technique of mixing and matching different forms of media. For example: Simply putting two pictures and then transforming it into a video. However there is another definition for this term. As a noun, an edit is a form of media, typically using animated characters, that showcases different scenes of a certain character or idea & typically there is music with hard bass drops, and each transition occurs on the beat.. It is meant to look cool and high-paced. An example of a typical edit is placed right next to this text wall. As you can see, it shows different scenes of this character with special effects. (Typically these edits have music but since this is a GIF it does not.)

So what?

Now even though I listed more than one definition, I can assure you that it all has a purpose; I'm not just filling space here. So if you recall my previous post I said I wanted to insert myself into a viral media template. If you look at my requirements for an edit above, it seems awfully similar to it doesn't it. Now I can confidently say that I plan to create an edit of myself for part 1 of my commercial. And then I will conventionally edit that Edit into another video of me. Essentially, Part 1 will be an introduction to Part 2, where I may comment on it, or introduce a semi-relevant video after it.

That's All!

That's it for this Production Blog everyone! I hope I made at least most of my descriptions and intentions clear.. Thank you for reading! And until next time, stay cool and attractive.

Research and Planning Blog

 Welcome to Jaydon TL;DR

Greetings and salutations my friends! We are going to start a new series where I cover my adventures and mishaps creating my Media Studies projects, that said, lets commence to the introduction! Welcome to Media TL;DR the series were I break down my greatest projects so you can easily dive in and understand my original ideas. I'm your host Jaydon Smith! And Today's topic is my planning and research for my upcoming commercial.

What are the processes?

Visuals

So when I was introduced to the contents of this project, my mind immediately went to the thought of a popular man in a suit undergoing transitions, usually with a fancy song and joke in the background similar to what's shown here. So I plan to go and put myself in various costumes, since not only is cosplaying something that I enjoy, but some of my cosplays such as "Donquixote Doflamingo" put me in more fancy and formal clothes. I was able to fabricate the template necessary to faithfully recreate the template.

Audio

As for the background music, I plan to use the instrumental version of "Tired" by Cj So Cool since the bpm matches up with the image transition. The motive behind using the instrumental instead of the actual song with vocals included is that the vocals in the song mention bottles and champagne, which I was not sure if it fit the requirements and prohibitions of this class. But if I continue with the instrumental, I should be able to keep the effect I want.

Part Two

I'm not 100% confirmed on what I will do for the video afterwards, but I might to an auto-interview, or something else that is fun. I will ensure that the quality for everything is top notch so both myself and my precious videos can have a wonderful experience! I might be in a fun costume, such as one I was planning; a Pikachu Mask worn in Japanese festival style. I'll just have it on the side of my head while I undergo the recording process. This looks like it could definitely be a lot of fun!

That's All!

That's it for this Research and Planning Blog, I hope I made at least most of my intentions very clear. Thank you for reading! And until next time, stay cool and attractive.

Intro Blog: Jaydon 101

Welcome to my blog!

Greetings and Salutations, my friends. I am known as Jaydon Smith, and this will be my first time attempting a blogging occupation. So, what will my activities consist of? You shall all see in short time. However! It would be rude to not properly introduce myself.

About my likes

I am a mere high schooler in Fort Lauderdale High School, and I hail far from there, all the way in Coral Springs! I have a husky named Ivy-Todoroki, which you will definitely hear lots about. And I take enjoyment in a few things, most of which utilize a creative prowess.

One such is drawing; both traditionally and digitally, though when I draw traditionally, I often trace my work on digital software afterward. I used to draw in a more humanoid and Japanese animation-esque style, but I have transitioned to a more cartoony style. The two of these pictures were drawings I've made of a few of my close friends. For both of them, I originally drew them on paper, allowing my brain to run free; experimenting with certain shapes and poses. After that, I went on my digital drawing app to trace and color this drawing. The app I prefer is called Ibis Paint. After lots of time, I can confidently say that I truly enjoyed drawing them quite a lot!

Another activity I enjoy is Origami, which is a Japanese art of folding paper into fun and decorative shapes or figures. I usually make origami as birthday presents for people that I care about. I've made creatures ranging from simple birds and fish to cute dragons and cats! There are some folds that I find difficult, but I enjoy the challenge!

My Aversions

There are many activities and topics that I like, but like most people, there are also some things I dislike. For example, I despise disrespectful people, no matter your age or maturity. I believe that everyone is deserving of basic respect unless they have proven themselves otherwise. On the topic of people, I also dislike when people interrupt me when I'm working on something, whether it is something concrete, like a job or a task, or when it is more abstract, like when I'm talking to someone, or if I'm trying to get emotionally closer to someone. A waste of time is also quite vexing to undergo since I know we won't be able to make it back up. And finally ginger. I hate ginger root.

A wrap

This concludes my bare-bones introductions. I've listed some things that I like and some things I dislike. I hope this journey will be a fulfilling one! Until then, stay cool and attractive y'all.
